Abstract:

Kinetic, which is used to describe movement in the field of physics and chemistry, has started to become the subject of art objects since the 1960s. The fact that objects of daily use have started to take place in works of art, the question of how to transfer real movement to a static sculpture has become a permanent theme in art, the passion for speed and movement are the main factors that led to the emergence and development of kinetic sculpture. Kinetic sculpture, whose principles were revealed with the Realistic Monifesto of Constructivist artists Naum Gabo and Antnoney Persver, continues to develop today with the heritage of pioneering artists and the information revolution that is the product of the 21st century. With this thesis, the journey of changing visual language, materials and techniques used in kinetic sculpture were investigated. Various examples are included in which methods such as natural trails, audience assistance, light assistance, machine assistance and optical illusion are interpreted and implemented by artists in different ways. How and what kind of additional materials can be combined with ceramics and kinetics, one of the materials used in the production of three-dimensional works and sculpture throughout history, has been examined within the scope of the works of artists who produce kinetic sculptures, Personal workshops and process experiences have been tried to be transferred to the thesis text.
