Prof. OSMAN TİRYAKİ

Biography

              He was born on 7 December 1957 in Bilecik-Söğüt. After studying primary school in Çaltı village, he left his beloved village. But he never left his village. He attended secondary school and high school in Zonguldak and Izmit, respectively. In June 1981, he graduated from Ankara University - Faculty of Agriculture - Department of Plant Protection. After his military service, he worked for 1 year in Zonguldak Cooperatives Provincial Directorate of Ministry of Rural Affairs. Later on he worked  as a researcher in Turkish Atomic Energy Authority (TAEK then called the Sarayköy Nuclear Research and Training Center, SANAEM) Nuclear Agriculture Department  at the period of 1984-2008 period ( 24 years). Under the use of radiation and radioisotopes in the field of plant protection, he worked especially with radiaolabelled pesticides.,  he got the great academic achievements in this period, including associate professor title. He awarded fellowship from International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) –supported projects for 6 months in Canada and 3 months in Hungary. He also attended Recearch Coordinated Meeting (RCM) of IAEA-supported projectes in several countries

                  In 2005, he received the title of Associate Professor. In May 2008, he left Ankara, where he lived for 30 years, and was appointed to Erciyes University Seyrani Faculty of Agriculture, Department of Plant Protection-Phytopathology Department. In 2010 he got the professor title. From May 2008 to July 2013, he served as the Plant Protection Department Head. On July 16, 2013, he was transferred as a professor to Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University, Faculty of Agriculture, Department of Plant Protection. From April 2014 to April 2015, he served as the Vice Dean. He has been the head of the Plant Protection Department since 11 September 2019.

                  With respect to research principles of TAEK, he carried out national and international projects and researches on the prevention of post-harvest plant diseases by irradiation and pesticide researchs by radio-labelled pesticides. He has  national and international publications on the reliability of data produced in pesticide residue analysis laboratories, accreditation and other quality systems, which have come to the agenda as a result of the importance of pesticide residues in agricultural products in our globalizing world. He has 136 scientific study related to his field of study.
