Sustainable transportation development will play a vital role in promoting the economic development and welfare of Ukraine in particular the transportation systems and infrastructures' resilience during and post-crisis. It is a well-established fact that some segments of the population are socially vulnerable (even if there is no crisis) in terms of access to transportation services namely elderly people, persons with disabilities, low-income people, and even females. The vulnerability of these groups can be sharply increased during crises such as wars or pandemics while there is limited access to transportation systems. The results of this project will help practitioners and policymakers in Ukraine to have a thorough understanding of travel behaviour and the needs of all user groups. In addition, it helps them to prioritize economic investment in a way that considers the welfare of all citizens including vulnerable social groups.
This project relates to items 69 (Intelligent technologies of transport) and 45 (energy-efficient transport) of the research list published by the Ukraine Ministry of Education and Science (MoES, 2022).
