Diğer Ülkelerdeki Özel Organizasyonlar Tarafından Desteklenmiş Proje, 2020 - 2021
English teaching is one of the priorities for tourism education in higher education. Therefore, it is crucial for tourism faculties to have adequate and qualified foreign language courses. As foreign language ability of students in a 4-years degree tourism programme is regarded low, the project’s aim is to determine the current situation of English teaching and improve teaching strategies and recommendations with help of British language experts. In the project, mixed research methods will be used to get an answer to the research question in order to compensate for the weaknesses of quantitative and qualitative research methods correspondingly. Probability-based simple random sampling method and non-probabilistic judgmental sampling method will be used in quantitative research and qualitative research, respectively. All stakeholders (students, instructors, managers) will be included in the research. In the project, English teaching of 3 Turkish tourism faculties is analyzed by Turkish research team and the British partner will provide teaching strategies. The project results and outcomes will be presented at the National Tourism Congress in 2021 and it is planned to be published in Tourism Management. The outcomes will be also disseminated across Turkey by Association of Tourism Academicians (TUADER).
