Proje Özeti

Objectives: In this study, the effects of social interaction, cognitive flexibility and seniority characteristics that occur between the emergency ambulance team during the intervention of the case on the correct response were examined.

Methods: The research, structured with the sequential exploratory mixed method, was carried out with 18 emergency ambulance crews working in 6 groups. The approach process of the teams working on a case in groups was recorded with video and audio recording. The group's conversations were decoded. Discourses were coded and modeled with regression. In addition, the cognitive flexibility levels and seniority of the team members were also included in the regression modeling.

Results: The number of discourses was higher in groups with high correct intervention scores. As the level of cognitive flexibility or seniority increased, the correct intervention score tended to decrease. Discourse types showing the quality of the interaction were either not found to be significant on the correct response to the emergency case in the regression equation or were determined as significant variables in the negative effect. Only informing has been identified as a variable that has a positive effect on the correct response to the emergency case, especially in the first period, which is directed towards the preparation of intervention intervention on the case.

Conclusions: Within the findings of the research, the decisions made as a team in complex cases under stress and environmental factors are of vital importance for the individuals receiving service. It is recommended that activities and scenario-based training practices that will increase the intra-team communication of the emergency ambulance personnel working as a team for 24 hours should be included in the in-service training.
