Özet

To evaluate the expectations and opinions of the target population about the probable services of a new family practice center. A 28-item questionnaire was developed and applied to all 178 members of Trakya University Faculty of Agriculture -the potential users of the new center- trough official posting within the institute. All subjects responded to the questionnaire. The demographic characteristics of the subjects were as follows: administrative personnel 38 (21.3%), residents 46 (25.9%), and academic and educational staff 94 (52.8%). The average age of the subjects was 36.88±9.20 years. 133 (74.3%) of the responders were male and 45 (25.3%) female. 141 (79.2%) of the subjects were married. Regarding the expectations from the family practice center 150 (84.3%) of the subjects preferred periodical health examination services. This was followed hy dental (147; 82.6%) and internal medicine (144; 80.9%) services. The least preferred services were labor (76; 42.7%), obstetrics (82; 46.1%) and family planning (86; 48.3%). There was a statistically significant relationship between occupation and preferring psychiatric evaluation and emergency medicine services. Also a significant relationship was found between marital status and choosing pediatric and gynecological health services. Age was found to be a significant factor affecting many of the parameters. Although the sociocultural and economical status of our subjects are higher than the Turkish averages, their expectancies from the family practice center differ from our family practice standards. 110 (61.8%) of our subjects chose computed tomography and 92 (51.7%) and 96 (53.9%) did not chose family planning and obstetric care services respectively. In contrast to this, the periodical health examination was the mostly preferred health service. As conclusion, these results show that, an important number of employees expect services, which are not parts of our family practice, and also younger individuals have a more predilection for family practice services. In conclusion, we think that, though our target population is not familiar with family practice, they will appreciate the planned family practice center and its services.
