Özet

During transthorasic biopsy procedure is breath holding necessary ? How and when patients must to hold breath? These are all controvertial in daily practice. Answers depend on the patients respiration type; abdominal or thorasic and patient’s breath holding capacity. So before biopsy procedure; observation of patient respiration is very important. We have to see type of respiration and also we have to educate patients for taking deep breath in and holding it for a while and repeat it so many times. Meanwhile we can see the capability of patient’s breath holding and duration of holding.. During transthorasic biopsy procedure it was very suprising seeing patients are unable holding breath properly and regularly. This makes procedure more complicated. We observed that if lesion was located at upper half of lungs and patient’s respiration was abdominal no movement occured during regular respiration. So in a such condition there is no need to breath holding. .If lesion located close to the diafragma, proper and regular breath holding is essential. As a result before biyopsi to observe patient’s respiration and to educate them about breath holding shortens procedure duration and decrease the complication rate. In this study with this point of wiev we investigate the our transthorasic biopsy results retrospectively according to affects of observation of patient’s respiration and education of patients about breath holding.
