Özet

Half of the world's agricultural areas are affected by drought. Drought reduces crop productivity by restricting plant growth while limiting photosynthesis. Drought stress is considered as a major stress on agricultural plants with more destructive effects than other stresses. The traditional use of medicinal and aromatic plants such as rosehips is well known. In addition, it has been shown that marine algae extracts and plant extracts such as Moringa oleifera have practical applications as biostimulants in removing the effect of drought stress in agricultural crops. In this study, it was aimed to determine the use of rosehip herb as a natural activator tolerant to drought stress in two wheat varieties (Triticum aestivum cv. Sultan 95 (drought-susceptible) and cv. Tosunbey (drought-tolerant)). According to our results, rosehips extract (RHE) application was protected the relative water content (RWC), increased root length by 40%, and did not change the stem length in 7d seedlings of Sultan-95 under drought stress. RHE protected RWC, increased the stem length by 15% and the stem length by 13%. RHE application increased total chlorophyll amount 15% and 6% in 7d and 14d seedlings of Sultan-95 under drought stress, respectively. In Tosunbey variety, RWC was decreased with RHE treatments under drought stress, while chlorophyll amount was protected and root length increased by 36% in 14 d seedlings. These results indicate that the application of RHE is better for 14-d drought stress application for drought-sensitive Sultan-95 variety compared to the drought-tolerant Tosunbey variety.
