The Evaluation of Primary Education Candidates' Views about the 'Teaching Music Course'

Özet

It is aimed to determine the views of the candidates studying Primary Education Department about the 'Music Teaching' course in the seventh semester of the Higher Education Council 2018 Classroom Teaching Bachelor Program. The research is important in terms of determining the views of pre-service teachers studying in the Primary Education Departments, The Department of Classroom Education and forming a resource for the studies to be done in this field. In the research, in which descriptive method was adopted, a questionnare was conducted to primary school teacher candidates studying in The Department of Primary Education of The Faculty of Education in Turkey in the spring semester of 2021-2022 academic year and volunteered to participate in the research in order to determine the views about the 'Music Teaching Course'. The collected data for the research were analyzed using the SPSS (Staistical Package for Social Sciences) for Windows 25.0 program, and the Chi-Square analysis, which is used to test the relationship between the variables, was utilised. According to the results of the research, it was concluded that the primary school teacher candidates considered the "Music Teaching" course and the instrument training given in the course as necessary during their Bachelor Education; however, they could not achieve sufficient outcomes in subjects such as music teaching methods and techniques, instrument and musical score teaching.
