Özet

This study was carried out in the district of Bayramiç which is located within the area surrounding the Kazdağ (Ida Mountain) in east and southeast directions and Bayramiç-Ezine plain where Menderes River passes through in west and northwest directions. This area was selected as the research subject considering the continuity of the settlement existence, cultural activities and the rich forest resources of Kazdağ (İda Mountain) where each of these factors constitute the potential importance of the region from ancient period till present day. In this study, the ancient settlements of Bayramiç region; Skepsis (Kurşunlu), Kebrene (Çaldağ) and Gergis (Karıncalı) which were located in the region so called as Inner Troas in the antique period, have been investigated.These ancient cities, were located on the ancient road starting from Çanakkale (Abydos) and passing over Kazdağ to Altınoluk (Antandros). In the antique period, each of these three cities minted their city coins. Furthermore, the cities of Skepsis and Kebrene were also found important due to fact of their membership in the Attica-Delos Marine Union. In this study, it is aimed to reveal the importance of the natural and cultural values of Bayramiç region by means of benefiting with conservation, and furthermore raising awareness in order to be able to contribute towards the development of the region. For this purpose, in this study, literature review and field studies with on-site investigations were conducted, the location of the ancient cities and the characteristics of their environment were determined, and recommendations were further made.
