Özet:

In maritime transport, the share of container transportation, which provides general cargo transportation other than bulk cargo, is quite large and is constantly increasing. In order to respond to the increasing container traffic in container ports, port operators have to meet this demand either by increasing the number of equipment or by using existing equipment efficiently without making an investment decision. Quay crane operational strategy plays a crucial role in assessing the performance of operating system at a container terminal. There are two types of operational strategies used in the planning of quay cranes: single cycling and dual cycling. Single cycling is an operational strategy where quay cranes perform their handling operations after the completion of the handling operations of all containers in the vessel bay. Dual cycling is an operational strategy in which quay cranes perform their handling operations simultaneously in the same vessel bay. The aim of this study is to show how single quay crane single and dual cycling strategies and multi quay crane single and dual cycling strategies can be modelled and analysed by simulation. This method is illustrated by a real-world case study at the port of Ambarlı. As a result, port operations such as loading, unloading and stacking in container terminals are simulated by using the Arena simulation program and to optimize the optimum number of trucks and rubber tyred gantry cranes with response surface methodology.
