Prof. TÜRKER SAVAŞ

Biography

Dr. Türker Savaş completed his PhD at the Institute of Animal Breeding and Husbandry at the University of Kiel in Germany in 1998. He was appointed as an assistant professor at the Department of Animal Science of Trakya University in 1999. Dr. Türker Savaş took the habilitation exam in 2000 and one year later he was appointed as an associate professor at the Department of Animal Science of the Agricultural Faculty, Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University. He became a professor of animal science in the same department in 2006, he is an expert in animal breeding and genetics, but he is also known for his studies in small ruminant production systems (especially goat production), animal behavior and animal welfare. In recent years he has also dealt with the interaction of animal production systems and animal health. Dr. Savaş is an active member of the Environment Movement Platform of Çanakkale. He was also chairman of the Çanakkale branch of the Chamber of Agriculture Engineers between 2013-2019.
