The purpose of this study is to determine the role of job commitment in the effect of positive psychological
capital on individual job performance. For this purpose, the convenience sampling method was used to collect
data from senior managers of 82 enterprises in the manufacturing sector in Kayseri. Considering the number of
participants, the data were analyzed with the help of Smart PLS. Individual Job Performance Scale developed by
Kirkman and Rosen (1999), Psychological Capital Scale developed by Luthans et al. (2007) and adapted into
Turkish by Çetin and Basım (2012) and Utrecht Work Engagement Scale (UWES) were used in the study.
According to the findings of the study, it was found that optimism dimension, one of the sub-dimensions of
Psychological Capital, positively affects work engagement and Self-Efficacy, one of the dimensions of Positive
Psychological Capital, positively affects Contextual Performance. The mediating role of job commitment in the
effect of positive psychological capital on individual job performance could not be determined.
