Özet

Water splitting by photonic methods is regarded as a sustainable technology to convert solar energy combined with water into chemical fuels to address today’s energy crises. The photonic energy processes include photocatalytic hydrogen evolution, photo-electrocatalytic hydrogen evolution, PV-electrolysis, and bio-photocatalytic hydrogen production. Despite their high environmental performance, the economic feasibility of these methods remains a challenge due to initial costs and the evolving nature of the technology. While recent advancements underscore progress and design innovations, addressing current challenges, seizing emerging opportunities, and envisioning the future of photonic water splitting remain imperative for realizing a truly sustainable energy landscape.
