Özet

The continuous system analytical model is one of the approximate calculation methods used in the analysis of the dynamic behavior of structures. One of the fundamental approaches employed in the continuous system analytical model is the shear beam model. In this study, a shear beam model developed for the spectral analysis of frame structures with and without infill walls under seismic loading is proposed. Within the scope of this study, an original approach is proposed to account for local bending effects in columns. In addition, to ensure consistency between the results obtained from the continuous-system analytical model and those from the discrete-system analytical model, coefficients dependent on the number of stories are defined for the natural period, effective mass, effective height, displacement, and inter-story drift ratio. In the shear beam approach adopted for the continuous-system analytical model, the shear stiffness is assumed to be constant along the height of the structure. However, in practice, the shear stiffness at the ground floor differs from that of the typical floors. To address this issue, a practical approach that explicitly accounts for this variation is introduced in this study. Finally, selected examples are analyzed using the proposed method to evaluate its adequacy, and the results are compared with those obtained from the SAP2000 software. The comparisons demonstrate a high level of agreement in terms of natural period, effective mass, effective height, participation factors, maximum inter-story drift ratio under seismic loading, roof displacement, base shear force, and overturning moments.
