Özet

Karavellis are a genre with humorous features, told between genres such as tales and public stories in order to draw audiences' attention and attract them into the plot of story again. It is common in places which the tradition of telling public story lives, especially East Anatolian Region and Azerbaijan area. Short texts in terms of volume, karavellis have created its own characteristic features. Karavellis have been constructed on conflict of antagonist and protagonist. This conflict reflects the economic relationships in social life, class differences, the tensions of ruling classes and the ruled masses and the strong and the weak. On account of its being a narrative form created and transferred in community, it is inevitable that it conveys the marks of social values, the issues concerning social memory for a long time reflects the said genre. It is seen that viewpoints to be considered as a conflict at the same time in this genre which has an important function for transferring of social values are formed by humorous types. On the other hand, restricting the criticism in karavellis by social censure can bring superficial approach to subject. The fact that some people from a certain class hierarchy such as sheik, hodja, mullah are the focus of basic criticism in the said genre and public representatives from sub-class is positioned against these people shows that the points of social conflicts should be looked for deeper and in differences of religious attitudes and behaviors. In this context, antagonists in karavellis are to be introduced and evaluated from class angle and the way of social conflict and voltage lines and important figure in character conflicts in karavellis, the type of religious man is to be discussed by considering social structure of community in which the text is created. Protogonists aren't to be argued in view of restraint of study.
