Özet
The hair follicle is one of the rare continuously renewing organs in the mammalian body and possesses a complex hormonal regulatory mechanism. This article examines the modulatory roles of melatonin secreted from the pineal gland, as well as circadian rhythms and photoperiodic (seasonal) changes, on the hair cycle (anagen, catagen, telogen). In particular, it focuses on how melatonin, through its antioxidant properties and local receptors within the hair follicle, influences the growth phase. The hair follicle is a highly dynamic and complex miniature organ capable of self-renewal within the human body. Its biology is governed not only by genetic inheritance but also by light cycles (photoperiod), hormonal fluctuations, and intrinsic molecular clocks. Hair growth is not a static process determined solely by genetic factors; rather, it is a dynamic system that continuously interacts with the organism's internal biological rhythms and environmental variables. In this context, hair follicles, like many other tissues in the body, are sensitive to timing mechanisms and, through these mechanisms, respond to both daily (circadian) and seasonal changes.
