Controlled drug release properties of cationic-based cryogels modified with in situ green silver nanoparticles

Özet

In this study, cationic-based p(APTMACl-co-HEMA)/NaAlg cryogels were synthesized by redox polymerization and modified with silver nanoparticles using the green synthesis method. Cornus Mas plant extract prepared in water was used for the in situ reduction of silver nanoparticles using the green synthesis method. The synthesized p(APTMACl-co-HEMA)/NaAlg@Ag composite cryogels were characterized by FT-IR, SEM, TEM, XRD, and TGA. The p(APTMACl-co-HEMA)/NaAlg@Ag composite cryogels, whose antioxidant, antibacterial and cell viability properties were also determined, were used as carrier matrices for the controlled release of cefazolin and sodium diclofenac. Thus, the cryogel composites developed for biomedical applications, which are both significantly porous and modified by green synthesis with antibacterial and antioxidant characteristics, achieved cumulative drug release values exceeding 90%. However, the kinetic parameters related to drug release from cryogels and cryogel composites were determined.
