Araştırmada, ortaokullarda görev yapan beden eğitimi öğretmenlerinin kişilik özelliklerinin değerlendirilmesi amaçlanmıştır. Tarama modeline uygun olarak düzenlenen araştırmanın problem cümlesini; Beden eğitimi öğretmenlerinin kişilik özellikleri nasıldır? sorusu oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmanın örneklemi, 2012-2013 öğretim yılında İstanbul il sınırları içinde bulunan Milli Eğitim Bakanlığı’na bağlı resmi ve özel ortaokullarda görev yapan beden eğitimi öğretmenlerinden oluşmaktadır. Araştırma 224 beden eğitimi öğretmeni ile gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırmada PERI Kişilik Envanteri beden eğitimi öğretmenlerine uygulanarak veriler elde edilmiştir. Araştırmada elde edilen verilerin; sosyo-demografik özellikler için frekans dağılımları, kişilik ölçeği faktör puanları ile cinsiyet, yaş, hizmet yılı ve okul türü değişkenlerine göre farklılaşma durumları parametrik Bağımsız Grup t Testi ve parametrik olmayan Kruskal Wallis testleri yapılarak bulgular elde edilmiştir. Elde edilen bulguların analizi sonucunda; beden eğitimi öğretmenlerinin sorumluluk bilinci özelliğine en yüksek ortalama puan ile sahip oldukları görülürken, en düşük düzeyde sahip oldukları kişilik özelliği alt boyutu ise duygusal denge olmaktadır. Ayrıca beden eğitimi öğretmenlerinin cinsiyet, yaş ve okul türüne göre kişilik özellikleri arasında anlamlı farklılık bulunmamıştır. Fakat hizmet yılına göre ise sadece duygusal denge alt boyutunda anlamlı farklılık bulunmuştur.
In this research was purposed to determine how the occupational personality competency of physical education teachers who teach in secondary schools were perceived by themselves. Survey model was used to this research. Sentence’ problem of research was “How the occupational personal competency of physical education teachers are evaluated by themselves?” The sample of the research was consisted of physical education teachers that worked in the academic year of 2011-2012 either from public or private secondary schools at National Education Ministry. In the research was participated 224 physical education teachers who worked in Istanbul. The data were obtained in this research; social-demography attribute for frequency distribution, factor points of the occupational personality competency scale with sexuality, age, duty year and type of school variables according to different situation that in order to obtain data descriptive analysis, Independent t-test and Kruskal-Wallis tests were used. The findings of this study are as follows: Physical education teachers are “completely adequated” in terms of occupational personality competency by themselves. Physical education teachers, indicated that they are completely adequated about physical education teachers' professional personal competence; reflective interaction, respect for human dignity and justice, motivational interaction, enthusiasm and commitment to professional and reflective dimensions of interaction. According to sexuality, age and duty year of physical education teachers were not found significiant different. But according to variable type of school was found significant different in one’s favour private school.
