Abstract
Pregnancy can affect the metabolism of many tissues and organs due to hormonal changes. Skin changes are also quite common during this period. Since skin changes are easily noticed, they may worry patients, especially during sensitive periods such as pregnancy. During pregnancy, there may be physiological changes such as pigmentation disorders, but it may also appear as an itch that indicates serious cholestasis. Late-diagnosed cholestasis can be a severe cause of morbidity and even mortality for the pregnant and the fetus. For this reason, common skin findings during pregnancy should be well-known by all physicians, especially gynecologists, primary care physicians, and dermatologists. In this chapter, common skin findings during pregnancy have been summarized to help all physicians in their daily practice.
