This study aims to present the investigation carried out during the norovirus outbreak in Surmene district of Trabzon province in July 2010. The cases of acute gastroenteritis first began appearing on July 9, and while the number of the cases was 271 on the first day, this number reached 880 on the second day. With the precautions taken as from the first day, the number of cases declined rapidly, yet there were a small number of cases as from the 10th day due to the transmission of norovirus from person to person, and the number decreased to the expected level as from July 28. 2483 cases with acute gastroenteritis applied during the outbreak. It was determined that the outbreak resulted from the decline of the chlorine level, at appropriate levels previously, in the system for a while as a consequence of tank's emptying and the use of the contaminated system in the main reservoir as a result of superpose of this process without flushing enough water from it after a well pump, not having been used for one month at the same time, was repaired.
