Özet

Summer asphodel (Asphodelus aestivus Brot.) is one of the notorious weed plants found into the rangelands of the Mediterranean climatic zone. This weed is poisonous and not preferred to graze by animals specially, sheep and goats. Beside this weed, different species of insects also use the rangelands as natural habitat and source of survival. But a monophagous mirid bug Capsodes infuscatus (Hemiptera: Miridae) mainly attacks leaf, stalk, flower and fruit of summer asphodel except, the tubers. In other words, this bug is the natural enemy of this weed plant in the rangelands of the Mediterranean region. The immature (nymphs) and adult stages of this bug feed on the different vegetative parts of summer asphodel with its sucking mouthparts. But, unfortunately, its population density is going to be decreased day by day due to the application of herbicides used for this unwanted weed. This bug is one of the Godgifted beneficial insects and must be protected and increased its population by rearing it under laboratory conditions, and then to be released to A. aestivus dominated rangelands.
