Abstract

Novel soluble thorium porphyrazines (pz) in which pz/Th ratio 1:1 and 2:1 were synthesized. Cyclotetramerization of 1,2-bis(hexylthio)maleonitrile into porphyrazine was accomplished by making use of the template effect of magnesium ions. H(2)Pz was obtained by treating MgPz in CF3COOH. The monomeric complex, Th(acac)(2)Pz (L-I), was prepared by treating Th(acac)(4) in TCB with H(2)Pz. The homoleptic complex, Th(Pz)(2) (L-II), was synthesized by treating Th(acac)(4) in DMF with H(2)Pz. These novel compounds have been characterized by elemental analysis, together with FT-IR and UV-Vis.
