Özet

Population growth, industrialization, and environmental problems have affected the adequacy of clean water resources. Water scarcity and energy deprivation, which have become the biggest problems today, require scientific studies to be carried out in this field. Therefore, it is a reasonable solution to convert used water or spring water into a clean water source by considering energy savings through appropriate processes. Metal organic frameworks (MOFs) are known as smart materials that have been used in many processes in the field of water treatment, especially in the last few years. Their effectiveness in selective separation processes is much higher, especially due to their tunable lattice structure. There are many types of MOFs used in water treatment. Especially in membrane processes, it has been observed that their use as composites increases the thermal, mechanical, and chemical resistance of the membrane and significantly improves the separation performance. In this study, MOF structures were investigated, and the potential of MOF-based composites in water and wastewater treatment by adsorption and membrane separation was revealed. The effect of MOFs on the performance in microfiltration, ultrafiltration, nanofiltration, reverse osmosis, membrane distillation, and pervaporation processes was investigated and their effectiveness in experimental studies was investigated.
