Climate change and its effects, which have risen to alarming levels in line with anthropogenic effects, continue to be carried out in parallel with new scientific findings in the field of culture and arts. The goal of the studies progressing in this context is to increase the qualities of climate action and to ensure the transformation of anthropocentric environmental toxic discourses into ecological discourses. Especially cultural narratives; literary texts, cinema films, dramas, television shows, all contents of the digital world are re-evaluated in line with sustainable gains. The central idea of the climate-based struggle for existence carried out in the cultural field is to expand climate justice to nonhuman areas and to establish fair system structures ‘for every living thing’. The aim of this study is to decipher the genreist signs that are prominent in cinema narratives about the post-apocalypse through semiotics method. The sampling area of the study consists of Hollywood popular films about the postapocalypse. Through two films selected in line with the purposive sampling technique, ‘genreist’ signs will be analysed with the semiotics method. The construction of holistic system structures that are compatible with the needs of the ecosystem and the awareness of speciesist narrative codes prominent in popular culture narratives are extremely important in combating the problems of the ecosystem. This and similar studies have the potential to serve as a guide in terms of marking incorrectly constructed audiovisual narrative codes and deriving new codes with an ecocentric perspective in line with sustainable goals.
