Abstract

Artificial intelligence (AI) has become increasingly integrated into language research by providing opportunities, while researchers' perceptions of ethical issues AI usage in research seem untouched in the research context. This study aims to explore language researchers' perceptions of the ethical implications of AI in research practices. In this qualitative research, data were collected through written responses from 20 language researchers and analyzed thematically. The study concluded that while AI offers efficiency and innovation, researchers are concerned with ethical risks, institutional policies, and clearer guidelines to ensure responsible AI use in language research. To maintain the integrity and sustainability of AI in language research, some practical recommendations for language researchers are also noted regarding language researchers, university administrators, policymakers, and academic publishers.
