Özet
Past and ongoing archaeological research in southern Anatolia conducted by numerous scholars has provided a substantial archaeological foundation with fine-tuned stratigraphy and chronologies. The knowledge collected from southern Anatolia has emerged as a ‘game changer’ in the assessment of interactions in the Eastern Mediterranean. This chapter presents an overview through case studies focusing on the interactions between Cyprus and the southern coast of Anatolia in the Middle and Late Bronze Ages, a period of globalisation and interregional connections via both land and sea routes. Pottery studies play a crucial role within this analysis as ceramics are better preserved than raw materials like textiles and metals. Consequently, Middle and Late Cypriot pottery in southern Anatolia and Red Lustrous Wheel-made Ware in Cyprus have emerged as key proxies for this analysis. This interpretation is further supported by archaeometric analyses, including petrographic, chemical, and isotope studies. Furthermore, the study seeks to integrate archaeological, geographical, and historical perspectives to explore pottery circulation between the two facing coasts of Cyprus and Anatolia.
