Abstract

Almost all the air pollution models are developed on a quantitative basis with strict implementation of determinism without qualitative verbal data. However, this paper presents the basis of the verbal statements through the fuzzy logic algorithm which might combine the meteorological, topographical, social and source existence interactions for the air pollution levels. The necessary fuzzy base rules are developed in the form of implications consisting of the premise parts that reflect the meteorological and topographical variables with the consequent part of decision making about the air pollutant levels. These levels are categorized as the safe, slightly dangerous, dangerous, alarmingly dangerous and severely dangerous categories. This paper provides preliminary linguistic air pollution control system by fuzzy modeling.
