The Effect of Online Education on High School Students' Attitudes: The Example of Çanakkale

Abstract

Due to the COVID-19 epidemic, our education system has changed both individually and socially. In this study, it is aimed to determine the positive and negative aspects of online education by examining the perspectives of students with high school education living in Çanakkale. The data obtained as a result of the questionnaire applied to a total of 235 individuals, 161 high school students and 74 high school graduates, studying at Çanakkale Public Education Center Directorate, were analyzed with SPSS 24.0. Participants are in the 14-21 age range and include individuals who continue their education in high school grades 9-10-11-12 and have graduated from high school. According to the results of the research, it was determined that female, 14-year-old, and 11th grade students gave more positive answers than other groups in examining the attitudes and behaviors of students with high school education in Çanakkale province towards online education. The results obtained in this study were compared with the results of previous studies in the literature and suggestions were presented to help students with high school education overcome the problems they encounter in the online education system.

COVID-19 salgını nedeniyle eğitim sistemimiz hem bireysel hem de toplumsal olarak değişime uğramıştır. Bu çalışmada; Çanakkale'de yaşayan lise düzeyinde eğitime sahip öğrencilerin bakış açıları incelenerek çevrimiçi eğitimin olumlu ve olumsuz yönlerinin belirlenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Çanakkale Halk Eğitim Merkezi Müdürlüğü'nde öğrenim gören 161 lise öğrencisi ve 74 lise mezunu olmak üzere toplam 235 bireye uygulanan anket sonucunda elde edilen veriler SPSS 24.0 ile analiz edilmiştir. Katılımcılar 14-21 yaş aralığında olup lise 9- 10-11-12 sınıflarda öğretime devam eden ve liseden mezun olmuş bireyleri kapsamaktadır. Araştırma sonucuna göre, kadın, 14 yaş grubu ve 11. sınıf öğrencilerinin Çanakkale ilindeki lise düzeyinde eğitime sahip öğrencilerin çevrimiçi eğitime yönelik tutum ve davranışlarının incelenmesi konusunda diğer gruplara göre daha olumlu yanıt verdikleri belirlenmiştir. Bu çalışmada elde edilen sonuçlar literatürde daha önce yapılmış çalışmaların sonuçları ile karşılaştırılmış ve lise düzeyinde eğitime sahip öğrencilerin çevrimiçi eğitim sisteminde karşılaştıkları sorunları aşmalarına yardımcı olacak öneriler sunulmuştur.
