Abstract

A new bisthiourea compound, 1,3,1',3'-(dinaphthalene-1,8-diyl) bisthiourea, was synthesized. Its structure was characterized by elemental analysis, FT-IR and H-1-, C-13-NMR and MS spectroscopic techniques. The compound was found to selectively recognize fluoride anions among other halides as demonstrated by means of UV-vis absorption spectroscopic date and the naked eye.
