Polygons, since the Ancient Greek era, remain as a significant subject for mathematical studies. Plato and
Archimedes carried out mathematical studies on polyhedrons that were shaped by polygonal forms. In topology,
which is one of the study areas of geometry, these objects are mentioned as Platonic solids and Archimedes objects.
These, known as regular polyhedrons, can also be seen as a source of inspiration for the productions of architects
and artists, alongside offering a wide range of research opportunities in the fields of mathematics and geometry.
Particularly, in art and design products that are created via computer technologies, it is observed that many different
variations with regards to irregular polyhedrons can be produced. In geometry, this is called form derivation and
it steers numerous designs in the context of artistic productions because of diverse perspectives it provides. Within
the scope of this study, polygonal structures in digital platforms and plastic arts were evaluated; under the themes
of painting, sculpture and ceramic, work samples of local and foreign artists were examined. As a result of the
comparison of painting, sculpture and ceramic artworks, it was determined that the utilization of polygons in
ceramic artworks is fewer. Moreover, it was analyzed that the materials and techniques used in ceramic works
cause difficulties for representing polygonal structures with sharp edges and corners. In this research, personal
ceramic sculpture implementations based on polyhedrons were included, in conjunction with the practice, methods
used throughout the implementation phases, problems encountered and recommendations for solutions were
addressed.
