Background: YouTube™ is one of the primary sources used by individuals to access health-related information. The aim of this study was to evaluate the content of the videos on 'space maintainer' in Turkish on YouTube™. Methods: The first 140 videos accessed by searching YouTube™ in Turkish with the word 'space maintainer' were evaluated. Video duration, numbers of views, likes, dislikes, and upload sources were recorded. The content of the videos was evaluated according to American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry criteria. The mean differences between the groups according to utility level were determined by the Independent sample t-test for normally distributed data, the Mann-Whitney-U test for non-normally distributed data; video sources and content parameters were evaluated with Fisher-Exact and Chi-square tests. The relationship between video features and scores was evaluated using Spearman Correlation Analysis. Results: Of the 140 videos, 25 (17.9 %) were analyzed, which were found to be suitable for the evaluation criteria. The mean video duration was 215.2 ± 409.5 seconds, the number of video views was 13834.5 ± 37821.4, likes was 54.1 ± 137.5, and dislikes was 5.4 ± 18.4. It was seen that 9 (36 %) videos were less useful and 16 (64 %) videos were moderately useful. The mean score was calculated as 3.88 ± 1.39. It was observed that there was no statistically significant relationship between the total video score and the video properties (p > 0.05). Conclusion: It has been observed that the number of Turkish videos about the 'space maintainer' on the YouTube™ is quite low, the existing content is insufficient. More comprehensive videos should be produced in order to inform users accurately and completely about space maintainers.
