Abstract

Agriculture has many constraints, by the integration of many of those related with agriculture it is possible to prepare a suitable irrigation programme for either in a small-scale farm or reservoir. In this regard, a linear programming model is used to optimize the land and water use. Dependable rainfall values were determined at 80% (dry), 50% (normal) and 20% (wet) probability of exceedance for the records of 1990-2020 period. Plant water consumptions were determined by PenmanMonteith method by using IRSIS software for dry, normal, and wet years. Linear programming models were solved by using WinQSB software. The cropping pattern with the supposed constraints for the site were found to be identical for dry, normal, and wet years. These software’s are much needed tools that assist the irrigation manager to develop alternative irrigation schedules for different weather conditions (dry, normal, and wet)
