Özet
In older adults, patient-physician communication plays a critical role in the effectiveness of treatment processes and the improvement of health outcomes. Although studies examining the relationships between patient-physician communication (PPC), medication adherence (MA), and quality of life (QoL) have gained attention in recent years, research examining the scope and direction of this relationship specifically in older adult patients is quite limited. This research aims to address this gap. The sample of this study, conducted in Türkiye, consisted of 260 older adult patients. Descriptive statistics, correlation, and regression analyses were used in the research. It has been determined that PPC is positively associated with both MA and QoL. Similarly, MA played a mediating role in the relationship between PPC and QoL. Furthermore, older adults who reported higher levels of education had higher levels of PPC, MA, and QoL. These results demonstrate that in the care of older adult patients, not only clinical interventions should be considered, but also effective communication strategies should be emphasized.
