Abstract

Surgical excision and lay-open is a well-known technique for the treatment of sacrococcygeal pilonidal disease, which impairs a patient's quality of life considerably since wound healing takes a substantial amount of time. It is known that with this method total healing period is longer, but recurrence rate of the disease is lower.
