Bu çalışmada Ebelik son sınıf öğrencilerinin perspektifinden Türkiye’de erkek ve kadın açısından aile planlaması (AP) hizmetlerine yönelik görüşlerini irdelemek amaçlandı. Nitel desendeki çalışma, Mayıs-Ağustos 2023 tarihleri arasında yapıldı. Araştırmanın evreninin bir vakıf üniversitesinin ebelik bölümü öğrencileri, örneklemini ise amaçlı örnekleme tekniğiyle belirlenen 38 ebelik bölümü son sınıf öğrencileri oluşturdu. Araştırma sonucunda kadın ve erkek açısından bulgular üç tema altında incelendi. Bu temalar “AP Hizmetlerinin Genel Durumu, AP Hizmetlerine Erişiminde Engeller, Hayal Ettikleri AP Hizmetleri” şeklindeydi. Temalar doğrultusunda mezun ebe adayları kadınlar açısından AP hizmetlerinin genel durumunu sadece kadınların AP danışmanlığı aldığı erkeklerin almadığı şeklinde ifade etti. Kadınlar açısından AP hizmetleri önündeki engeller arasında yöntemlerin ücretli olması iken erkekler açısından yöntem kullanımına katılmamaları olduğunu düşündükleri belirttiler. Mezun ebe adaylarının hayal ettikleri AP hizmeti ise kadınlar açısından ev ziyaretleri erkekler açısından ücretsiz yöntem verilmesi şeklindeydi. Bu çalışmada kısa bir süre sonra ebe ünvanı ile hizmet verecek olan mezun ebelerin AP hizmetlerinde toplumsal cinsiyet ve bölgesel eşitsizlik olduğunu, hizmetlerin ise yetersiz olduğunu düşündükleri görüldü. Mesleğe atılmak üzere ve mesleki heyecan taşıyan mezun adayı ebelik öğrencilerinin hayal ettikleri hizmet ortamının sağlaması önerilebilir.
The aim of this study was to examine the views of senior midwifery students on family planning (FP) services in Turkey from the perspective of men and women. The qualitative study was conducted between May and August 2023. The population of the study consisted of midwifery department students of a foundation university and the sample consisted of 38 senior midwifery department students determined by purposive sampling technique. As a result of the research, the findings in terms of men and women were analyzed under three themes. These themes were “General Status of FP Services, Barriers to Access to FP Services, FP Services They Dream of”. In line with the themes, graduate midwife candidates expressed the general status of FP services for women as only women receive FP counseling and men do not. They stated that they thought that the barriers to FP services for women were that the methods were paid, while for men they thought that they did not participate in the use of methods. The FP services that the graduate midwives dreamed of were home visits for women and free methods for men. In this study, it was seen that the graduated midwives, who will serve as midwives in a short time, thought that there were gender and regional inequalities in FP services and that the services were inadequate. It may be recommended to provide the service environment that graduating midwifery students who are about to enter the profession and who have professional excitement dream of.
