This chapter examines how artificial intelligence (AI) enhances receptive foreign language skills, listening, and reading by delivering adaptive and personalized learning experiences. Building on established literature and recent empirical findings, the study discusses that AI-powered platforms diversify input, offer real-time diagnostic feedback, and simulate authentic communicative contexts through generative text and multimodal resources. These systems may expose learners to varied accents and dialects, scaffold complex texts, and provide immediate corrective cues, thereby reducing anxiety and sustaining motivation. Furthermore, the chapter highlights AI's role in promoting metacognitive development as learners critically reflect on their comprehension and refine their strategies. While promising, the research acknowledges risks such as overreliance on technology, diminished human interaction, data privacy issues, algorithmic bias, and access concerns.
