Özet
Silk production has played an important economic and cultural role since antiquity, with Bombyx mori (L.) being the principal species used in commercial sericulture. Hatay Yellow, a traditional local Bombyx mori variety unique to Türkiye, represents an important genetic resource that has not been commercially reared for approximately fifty years and is currently at risk of extinction. This local variety, known for producing cocoons in various shades of yellow, is vital for preserving both biodiversity and cultural heritage. This study investigates the cocoon, fibre, and yarn characteristics of Hatay Yellow silk.
