Abstract

From the perspective of modern and sophisticated western civilization, according to ancient Greek mythology, there is a single monster from which all evil creatures are descended. This monster is called Typhon (Tyophos/Typhoeus/Typheus). In this article, different information about Typhon has been tried to be conveyed comparatively over ceramic samples. Based on the Typhon example, a brief evaluation was made about the effects of mythological entities in popular culture, by referring to how imaginary entities gain value in popular culture with a single example. It is increasingly important for Turkish artists and designers to compete by making productions by making use of Anatolian and Turkish mythology, as an alternative to the products of western civilizations that have become popular by becoming consumption materials in fields such as literature, cinema, games, cartoons, comics, and the gift industry.
