Public Urban forests are important recreation areas. In this context, the urban forest “Oconee Forest Park” in Athens (Georgia-USA) was investigated. The Oconee urban forest is a natural forest area of approximately 60- acre at University of Georgia in Athens. The area is managed by University of Georgia’s Warnell School of Forest Natural Resources. Oconee Forest Park provides recreation, outdoor teaching, and research opportunities for the University. The area is a living laboratory for faculty and students providing education in forestry, botany, ecology, dendrology and horticulture. At the same time, this area allows the city residents recreational activity opportunities in nature. The park manager, Dan Williams, along with student interns maintain the labels of individual specimens for educational purposes. Thus, those who come to the area can both enjoy the park and learn about the tree speciees.
