Varoluşundan günümüze kadar büyük düşüngüsel, dinsel ve siyasal savaşlara tanıklık eden İnsanlık, kitlesel sürgünler ve kıyımlar yaşar. Kuşkusuz erken tarihimiz kadar yirminci yüzyıl da toplumsal bellekten silinemeyen ve tüm insanlığı etkileyen büyük olaylara sahne olur. Yaklaşık altı milyon kişinin yaşamına mal olan ve çok geniş kitleleri etkileyen önemli olaylardan biri de Asya anakarasında Milliyetçi ve Komünistler arasında yıllarca süren Çin özgürlük savaşı (1923-1949) ile yaşanır. André Malraux, bu savaşın belli bir dönemini İnsanlık Durumu adlı siyasal içerikli toplumsal kurmacasına taşır. Yirminci yüzyılın büyük Fransız romancılarından birisi olan Malraux çağın düşüngüsel ve felsefesel yapısını sorgulayarak kentsoylu toplumla bu toplumu oluşturan kişilerin varoluşsal ve özgürlük sorunlarını sorunsallaştırır. Çağının ve gelecekte yaşanacak sorunları öngörerek insanlığı bilgilendirme ve uyarma görevi üstlenen yazar, uzak bir Çin'de geçen korkunç, acıklı ve şiddet dolu bezemler aracılığıyla, bolluk içinde yaşayan ve kendisini bekleyen ikinci büyük yıkımdan habersiz Avrupa'ya bir göndermede bulunur.

ANDRE MALRAUX’S THE HUMAN CONDITION:
A GENETIC STRUCTURALIST READING
Abstract: Humanity, which has witnessed great ideological, religious and political wars from its birth to the present, has also lived through mass deportations and genocides. Likewise, the 20th century, like the 19th century before, witnesses many incidents that are not erased from society’s memory and affect people’s lives. One of these significant incidents is Chinese freedom war (1923-1949), which occurred on Asia continent between Nationalists and Communists, affecting masses and causing six million people’s death. André Malraux carries a certain period of this war to her fiction The Human Condition in a political social context. Malraux, one of the important French authors of the 20th century, questions the bourgeois’ existence and freedom problems, by examining the ideological and philosophical structure of the era. The author, who takes on the task of informing and warning people by foreseeing the problems of the future and the present, refers to Europe which has a wealthy life and is unaware of the second destruction waiting for it, by means of terrible, dramatic and violence motives in China.
