Prof. CÜNEYT AKI

Biography

He was born in  Isparta in 1968. He completed his Primary, Secondary, High School, University and Postgraduate Education in İzmir. He graduated from Ege University Science Faculty Biology Department in 1990 and started to work as a Research Assistant at Ege University Science Faculty Biology Department in 1992. He graduated from MSc at Dokuz Eylul University in 1993. In 1997, he completed his PhD Thesis on "Plant Tissue Culture" at Ege University, Department of Biology, Department of General Biology. He was at the Agricultural Research Organization Volcani Center in Bet Dagan for one year as a fellow of the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs for his post-doctoral research.

In 2001, he started to work as an Assistant Professor at Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University, Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Department of Biology. He has got Associate Professor degree in Biology in 2006. He worked as a Vice Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences Between 2007 and 2012.

He was the one of the founder of the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics at Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University and he was a Head of the Department at the same department. He has got the title of Professor in 2013.

He has many publications presented in International and National Journals, Congresses and Symposiums. He worked as an executive and researcher in TUBITAK and BAP projects. He is currently the Head of the Subdivision of Molecular Biology.

Between 2001-2023, 41 MSc and 8 PhD students have been graduated under his supervising. All of the PhD students which graduated are continuing their duties as Professor, Associate Prefessor in different Universities in Turkey. Currently, there are 2 MSc students still continue their thesis under his supervising.

He is a coordinator of Monitoring and Evaluation of Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University Research Centers. Also he is a member of Quality Assurance Commission, Graduate Scientific Research and Publication Ethics Commission, Science and Engineering Scientific Research Publication Ethics Commission.

Cüneyt AKI is married and has two daughters.
