Assoc. Prof. Dr. Güntuğ Batıhan previously served as the Head of the Department of Thoracic Surgery and the Director of the Interventional Pulmonology Unit at Kafkas University Faculty of Medicine. He is currently continuing his academic and clinical work at Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University. He completed his thoracic surgery residency at the University of Health Sciences, İzmir Dr. Suat Seren Chest Diseases and Thoracic Surgery Training and Research Hospital. Throughout his training and career, he has gained substantial experience in minimally invasive thoracic surgery, particularly in video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) and interventional pulmonology.
During his career, he has successfully performed a wide range of thoracic surgical procedures, including surgeries for lung cancer, bronchiectasis, hydatid cysts, mediastinal tumors, and tracheal diseases. In the past year alone, he has performed over 200 thoracic procedures under general anesthesia and more than 50 anatomical lung resections, including lobectomy, segmentectomy, and pneumonectomy. Academically, he has authored numerous national and international publications, book chapters, and conference presentations.
In addition to his clinical and academic productivity, Dr. Batıhan actively contributes as a reviewer and editor for several national and international scientific journals. He is a member of several esteemed professional organizations, including the European Respiratory Society (ERS), European Association for Cardio-Thoracic Surgery (EACTS), European Society of Thoracic Surgeons (ESTS), International Society for Minimally Invasive Cardiothoracic Surgery (ISMICS), European Association for Bronchology and Interventional Pulmonology (EABIP), and the Turkish Society of Thoracic Surgery (TGCD).
