Biography
He was born on February 26, 1994 in Altındağ district of Ankara. After studying Computer Engineering for 2 years at Karabuk University, he left this department. In the same year, he started Ankara University Communication Faculty Radio, TV and Cinema department. In the 2014-2015 academic season, he studied at Teramo University in Italy with the Erasmus program for a half-term. After graduating from this department, he started his master's degree with thesis at Anadolu University, Institute of Social Sciences, Cinema-TV department in 2017. He graduated in 2020 with his thesis titled "Ali Özgentürk Cinema". Afterwards, he started his PhD program in Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University, Graduate Education Institute, Media and Cultural Studies.  In 2024, he graduated from this programme with his thesis titled ‘The Effect of Game-Based Learning Approach On Academic Motivation and Problem Solving Skills of Students Who Study Cinema At Higher Education Level’. Since 2018, he has been continuing his work on documentary and fiction films. With his documentary Kül Kent (2018), he was a finalist at the 7th Atıf Yılmaz Short Film Festival and the 12th Istanbul International Architecture and Urban Films Festival, and a semi-finalist at the GNG Green Earth Film Festival in the USA. The documentary was featured in the selection of several festivals, including the 29th Ankara Film Festival, the 4th Marmaris Short Film Festival, the 5th Bozcaada International Ecological Documentary Festival, the 19th İzmir Short Film Festival, the 5th Uşak Winged Seahorse Short Film Festival, and the International Ecological TV Festival "To Save and Preserve" in Russia. Additionally, it was part of the online short film selection at the Architecture and Urban Films Festival in 2020 and featured in the BIFED selection at the Kadıköy Environment Festival in 2023. His documentary İda's Guardians (2019) was included in the screening selection at the 7th Bozcaada Ecological Documentary Festival in 2020, bringing it to the audience. In 2023, Barman was the cinematographer for the short fiction film "Pamuk," directed by Özkan Emre, which won first place in the 20th Cinema of the Future competition organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the Turkish Cinema and Audiovisual Culture Foundation (TÜRSAK).
