Dr. Abdulkadir Atalan is an Associate Professor of Industrial Engineering at Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University. With a multidisciplinary background in healthcare systems, renewable energy, simulation, optimization, and machine learning, he has held academic positions in Türkiye, the United States, and Belgium. He has authored over 50 peer-reviewed journal articles indexed in SCI/SSCI/SCIE, focusing on healthcare resource optimization, renewable energy modeling, and artificial intelligence applications. Dr. Atalan has served as principal investigator and consultant for national and international projects funded by TÜBİTAK, ministries, and U.S. institutions. He also acts as Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Statistics and Applied Sciences and contributes as a reviewer to numerous high-impact journals. His expertise spans discrete-event simulation, machine learning, DoE, statistical modeling, and quality management, and his work integrates engineering principles with real-world decision-making for sustainable and intelligent systems.
A project integrating DoE and ML methods in wind energy is currently underway at the U.S. NSF National Center for Atmospheric Research under the supervision of Dr. Sue Ellen Haupt.
